The ATT DSL router is at 192.168.1.254, not on the same subnet as the rest of the network nodes. The DSL router not being on the same subnet threw me; I'm guessing the DSL router must be connected to the default gateway and that is what allowed me to log into it from the 192.168.0.x subnet.
